Lyle and Scott the peoples designer

Lyle and Scott Clothing has really taken a hold of the nation in fashion terms. Everyone who is anyone instantly recognises the infamous gold eagle (also available in green for golf wear and blue for the Lyle and Scott heritage line). The brand came together in 1984 by William Lyle and Walter Scott in the small town of Hawick. At the time the two-some were inspired by other golfing brands such as Pringle but it wasn’t until 1926 they started to produce knitted outerwear. Since that day they have come a long way, the brand is now one of the most fashionable knitwear companies. Holding its own along side the likes of All Saints, Pringle and many cheaper alternatives.

The secret to Lyle and Scott’s success is due to their superior quality. All the clothing is made with great care and sitting at the top of the checklist is quality. Personally I owned an All Saints V neck jumper and after wearing it twice the wool had pulled and a hole right in the middle on the front of the jumper had appeared meaning I had to bin it, this is what made me change my views and give Lyle and Scott a whirl. Now I don’t just buy Lyle and Scott for jumpers, I shop there for cardigans and polo t shirts as well. Prices today for a typical Lyle and Scott v neck jumper can range from around £60 to £90 for Gold Eagle and considerably less for other lines.
