Camping Tips & Properly Breaking Camp

posted by admin 9:56 AM
Thursday, July 9, 2009
There is a lot of attention put on the preparation for your camping trip, or how to get the most out of your camping trip once you arrive at the campground. You can browse though popular online camping forums and other camping related sites for a wealth of information covering these topics. But an often overlooked, but vitally important piece of advice to put in use is how to properly break camp, or basically pickup your things and go.
Pack Your Gear

This is an obvious one, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve left personal belongings behind or went to a campsite and found previous campers belongings. Walk the entire camp area making sure you have packed up everything you brought. A golden rule of camping is to leave the campsite exactly how it was when you first arrived. And a little tip I’ve learned over the years, bring an extra suit case or garbage bag to store your dirty clothes in. This keeps them separate from any clean clothes you might have left over.

Cooler check

Now is a good time to throw at anything you don’t want to keep for the ride home. Also, drain out any water that might remain in the cooler and replenish it with ice.

Pickup the trash

As stated before, leave the campsite exactly how it was when you arrived. Or to put it more bluntly, leave no trace! This is a must follow rule for many environmental reasons as well as just being courteous to other campers and campground owners.

Smother the fire

Always douse the campfire again before leaving. Even if it appears to be out, throw water or dirt on it again. An easy way to do this is to just dump any remaining water from the cooler onto the campfire. A large number of forest fires have started due to campfire that was thought to be extinguished.

Final walk around

And, of course, do one final walk around to make sure nothing was missed.

Lending for People with a Bad Credit History

Loan machine Leads the Way with Responsible Lending for People with a Bad Credit History

People often think it is impossible to obtain a loan if they have a bad credit history.  However, it is quite easy to secure homeowner loans, even if you have a bad credit history.

A home equity loan is a loan which is secured against your home.  It is easy to be accepted for one of these loans as the lender is in a no lose position.  If you are a good customer and make the payments on time, the lender makes a profit.  If you are a bad customer and do not make the payments on time, the lender makes money from the payments made to date, plus they are able to repossess your home, that they then sell on.

The key is knowing where to look for one of these loans.  You have to be flexible with the options that are open to you.  Here at Loan Machine we specialise in finding loans for everyone and for all purposes, whether it is for a holiday, house extension or a wedding.

It is very important that you find the loan that is right for you.  You should not limit your options by just investigating and applying to the mainstream banks and lenders, it is important to shop around.  However one application to loan-machine is all that you need to do.  We work with a large range of lenders and brokers, who deal with people with good and bad credit ratings.  We can do all of the work for you, to find the loan most suitable for you needs, saving you lots of time and effort.  Let us do the hard work for you.

Quick Payday Loans

Approving a loan in the current economic climate is harder than it used to be. However, there are small, quick loans, available that can enable you to borrow between £80 and £750 and get the loan approved the same day that you apply. These type of loans are called payday loans and are freely available.

A key benefit of these type of loans is that the lender does not need to credit search the customer. So for people that have an impaired or bad credit rating this type of borrowing means that they can gain access to credit. Also, these loans don’t always require any form of paperwork. They are often referred to as “no fax loans” and this is because they can often be completed by phone and by e-mail.

With no credit checks and no paperwork this means that the loan can be accessed and approved within hours. Payday loans are perfect for quick cash and customers have been known to have got the loan in their account within 90 minutes of completing an online loan application form.

The reason they are called payday loans is because the loan only ever lasts as long as the time period is to the customers next payday – so it could be anything from 2 days to 30 days. The APR is traditionally high – but it is important to know that APR focuses on the interest rate over a year – and these loans never last longer than 30 days. Generally you will pay £20 interest per £100 borrow – although individual lenders do vary their rates.

Debt Help

As the world economy is at its most critical stage for 10’s of years – as is the financial state of individuals.

More and more individuals are missing payments on credit cards, unsecured loans and store cards and simply having to turn a “blind eye” to debt as they simply cannot afford to pay their existing payments.

In the past individuals would take out additional loans – known as debt consolidation loans – to pay off their existing credit. Normally this loan would be at a reduced rate and taken over a longer time period than their existing credit. This would then result in reduced monthly payments.

Due to banks reductions in lending the above is now not always an option. Many individuals now have to look towards getting debt help in a different way to enable them to still be able to live a normal life.

Often people don’t know how to get this help and a Citizens Advice Bureau is always an option. You also have options of many online debt management companies – where you can submit some very basic details online and then you will get a debt advisor call you and discuss the options you currently have available to you. If they can accept you then chances are you will be offered either a Debt Management Plan or an IVA Plan. These will be explained to you in great detail but essentially they will both mean that you will be paying less on your existing debts, per month, than you currently are therefore freeing up cash to spend on other things in life.

Gardening:Hardening Off

Hardening off is simply the process of acclimatising a young plant or seedling that has been grown indoors to the outdoor environment.  The trick is to gradually acclimatise the seedling so that it doesn’t experience shock at the change of conditions.

Why harden off?

Many plants are prone to a check in growth if they are moved straight from a warm environment such as a greenhouse directly to an outdoor location.  With some varieties a cold snap after planting out can be sufficient to kill of your seedlings if they haven’t been hardened off.

How to harden off?

If you don’t own a cold frame, the traditional approach for hardening off is pretty laborious. On day one, the plant is placed outside for perhaps an hour and then brought back inside. You repeat this process each day, slowly increasing the amount of time spent outside until it is outside for most of the day and night. At which point it can then be transplanted to its permanent position outside.

If you have plenty of time, or you work from home then this method of hardening off is achievable.  Unfortunately many of us have work or other commitments that make this method of hardening off impractical.

Hardening off the easy way – A cold frame

One of the biggest advantages of a cold frame is that it becomes incredibly easy to harden off seedlings.  Hardening off with a cold frame is achieved by adjusting the position of the roof lights, with the seedlings spending the whole day in the cold frame.  On day one, start with the roof light of the cold frame just slightly ajar and over the course of the next couple of weeks open the light a little further each day. After a couple of weeks the roof light should be fully opened day and night.  The plant is hardened off and ready to be transplanted without its growth being stunted.

Compact Radiators

Today’s compact radiators are designed to coordinate with any home’s décor and can even be chic focal points by themselves. These stylish units come in a wide variety of sizes and shapes.

In the old days where the radiators were situated in a room depended on how big they were but this is no longer the determining criteria. Instead you can choose where you want them and then buy compact radiators that will fit best in that location. There is a designer unit being sold that doesn’t have any metal fins but which radiates the heat from a large but attractive rock instead.

There are smaller compact radiators concealed in wall mirrors which can be hung at eye level in a hallway so that it takes up none of your valuable floor space at all. Hanging a heated towel rail in the bathroom can put an elegant finishing touch on the room, supplying the luxury of a warm towel when you step out of the shower or bath and heating the room as well. Compact radiators are the perfect answer to a variety of heating challenges since the heat they will generate is very good compared to their size.

You can also get heated shelves that will warm not just a couple of towels, but practically the entire contents of your bathroom linen closet. Or choose one of the many compact radiators that are created to look like pieces of metal sculpture and are hung on the wall like expensive artwork.

Novelty Toilet Seats

Novelty toilet seats might not be the classiest seat in the house, but it is the most important. If you don’t agree, just imagine your home without it.

When the one in your bathroom gets discoloured, stained or broken it is time to buy a new one. You may be amazed at how much replacing this one little piece of decor can change the ambiance in your bathroom.

These days there is such a huge variety of colors, textures, shapes and specialty novelty toilet seats, shopping for one may be more enjoyable than ever. The first thing you have to note is the shape of your toilet, ie round or oblong, and the measurement from the front of the bowl to the spot in between the screws on the back.

Next choose from the many materials currently available for novelty toilet seats, plastic, wood or vinyl covered. Wooden seats are more expensive but come in beautiful oak or walnut finishes like a piece of fine furniture and may be fitted with elegant brass hardware. Plastic is much cheaper but also colder in winter, unless of course you go for one of the very luxurious heated novelty toilet seats.

Since you will, over the years, spend quite a bit of time sitting on them, you should also take into consideration the aspects concerning sturdiness, ease of cleaning and comfort. There is a wide price range to look at. A simple thin plastic unit will cost very little while the fanciest novelty toilet seats can cost hundreds.

Today’s briefcase expresses this lifestyle to, used mainly by the city workers, the briefcase not only shows status and power but also provides a practical use for holding your work, laptop, phone, pens and papers. HD Projectors

Projectors for a home cinema had always been considered a bit of a pointless product to own in the past. Quality wasn’t great on these old projectors, a lot more space was needed to set them up and mainly they were extremely expensive and power intensive, people got by using the trusty known TV.

However in this new era of massive technology growth we have seen the likes of projectors and TVs reduce in price massively and improve in quality and included technologies. One of the defining changes has been “HD” or “high definition”, this technology has brought around increased resolutions and improved the viewing experience on most TVs.

Now this phase has proved so successful and lucrative HD has been combined into the increasingly popular projector market to give us the aptly named “HD projector”. HD projectors are getting an increasing reputation however as they are such a change from viewing programs, playing games and watching films on the known format of a television the public are a lot slower at taking up the new style projector. Apart from viewing quality improvement, HD projectors have many other highly useful pros.

To begin with price is no longer an issue when competing with the TV market. A good 40inch TV from a respected manufacturer will set you back £400 however an HD projector with quality resolution which can fit on a massive white screen or project to a wall will cost you a similar amount! This also leads on to portability, the bigger the TV the heavier and less portable it is. HD projectors are all a similar size no matter what the quality, they are fairly light weight making moving them a simpler job. The bottom line is this – if you’re considering buying a new TV or projector for a home cinema be sure to check out the idea of an HD projector, you’ll save money and have a whole new gadget to show off to the family.

Time Saving Tips: Birthday Cards

Birthdays seem to be creeping up on us even though they happen at the same time every year. And we e always find ourselves rushing for something, don’t we? Instead of waiting until the last minute, get prepared early by using these tips:

1. Instead of heading to the store every time you need to buy another birthday card, all you have to do is just to stock up once or twice a year. You can easily buy a box of greeting cards with a general birthday message or go to the dollar store or find online greeting cards shop and get as many cards as you will need for the year without breaking the bank.

2. If you have cards that you are going to mail, buy stamps as well so that you can stamp and address those envelopes. Don’t seal cards until the day you’re going to send them, even if you have added a personal note and signed it.

3. With birthday cards set up like this, you can add your favourite photos, letters etc. up until you will need to send it.

4. On a calendar that you look at often, mark the date which each card should be mailed out. Give yourself a week or two to make things 100% sure that it arrives on time!

Save yourself a lot of stress this year and get prepared early. Setting things up while you have a spare evening will save you a lot of time (and embarrassment) later on.
